Passé position 🦋🦋
Passé means “to pass” in French. This position you can do either flat or on your tip toes! Your elevated leg is pointed and turned out completely while your hips are open. Your supporting leg is very strong, straight, and one long line! This position can be held without moving, it can be a pass through position, or most commonly done while turning.

Monday means back to the grind!
Today I had two ballet classes and a musical theater class. Musical theater is one of my favorite styles as you get to not only tell a story, but truly express yourself through theatrical movement and facial expressions.

It’s Wednesday!! Middle of the week always has me a little burnt out, but it’s so important to keep resting and to not give up working hard. 😇
This position in ballet is called arabesque. It is a position of the body where a dancer stands on one leg while the other leg is turned out and lifted behind to elongate the dancer’s frame and lines. This position is difficult as both legs must be straight. The final touch is pointing your raised foot so it completed the line of your leg. 💛

Wednesday night contemporary is my favorite. A total release. 🦋
Contemporary dancing is very interpretational and very emotional. Takes technique from ballet and adds a sense of release along with it.

Happy tuesday :) finally sharing some dance moves!
Here I danced a little jazz improvisation. I absolutely love not only jazz music but jazz dancing. It takes the technique I practice in ballet and adds a little flare alongside it 😇

Friday morning and already finished my first technique class of the day! 💕
Here I’m holding an essential position of ballet called “attitude derrière” when accomplishing this position you want to think about a clean arch in your back while your standing leg is completely straight and strong. Your elevated leg forms an attitude position while your toe is beautifully pointed!
As easy as this looks in the photo ballet takes the utmost strength! Clean and long lines is what we always strive for as ballet dancers 🦋

Wrapping up my night with a long epsom salt bath to soothe my muscles that worked hard through 4 ballet and contemporary classes today 😴
Epsom salt bath’s are one of the most essential parts of a dancer’s day. The epsom salt allows for the muscles and bones to release tension after working hard or even overworking the body. Epsom salt also helps deliver magnesium to prevent potential body aches that may carry over to the next full day of dancing.
